Business Development Manager – German Automotive Structural (Body/Chassis)
Global heavy manufacturing company is looking for a Business Development Manager to develop new business with German automotive OEs and respective Tiered supply base. 
 
This position will serve as the face of the company to targeted customers and be the primary contact point for all commercial and business issues.  This position must bring broad experience in the targeted market and the ability to build dynamic relationships quickly.

Key Requirements Include:
  • Min. 10+ years of Commercial Business Development experience in Automotive
  • Min. 5+ years of high level direct interaction with Purchasing and Engineering functions within the German automotive segment from the structural side of Automotive (Body and/or Chassis)
  • Must bring broad experience in the targeted market and the ability to build dynamic relationships quickly.
  • Self-motivated
  • Candidate  that can open the doors, make the contacts, and develop business and own the business
  • Manufacturing experience; and exposure to aluminum  industry is a plus
  •  Must have Project Management skills
  • Must be able to converse Technically
  • Understanding Automotive Industry is Crucial and Required
  • Commercial Background is Crucial and Required
  • German language skills would be a bonus
  • Demonstrated ability to work in and through teams, with all levels of the organization
    • including the ability to provide in-depth expertise related to customer/industry requirements, procedures and services in functional area.
  • Proven Superior Customer Relation skills
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization (verbal and written)
  • Travel: 50% overnight travel

Location:
  • No specific location
  • Individual will be working out of their home office, when they are not traveling 

Technology:
  • Must be computer literate
  • Software: Microsoft Office software is required.  GD&T, and AA standards a plus
Education:
  • Bachelors in either Engineering or Business required
  • MBA a plus
Note:  This is an individual contributor role.

Key Responsibilities Include:
  • Develop and maintain a profitable book of business within targeted customer segment
  • Ability to work with all functional areas within targeted customer segment to generate RFQs and develop net new commercial opportunities.
  • Strong problem solving skills and follow up communication is required.
  • Develop strong business relationships with customer purchasing, engineering, quality and other segments to foster deep understanding of customer needs and issues.
  • Customer Base Assignment:  Functions as face of the company to respective customers.  Develops strong relationships via prompt, professional and thorough communication.
  • Customer Presence:  Regularly travels to customer to ensure all aspects of business relationship are in good order.
  • Supports Customer Service:  Supports the customer service group in resolving service or transactional related issues that impact the business relationship.
  • Manages / Mitigates Customer Issues:  Ensures that customer complaints related to Commercial issues are promptly addressed with high levels of professionalism.
  • Becomes the Customer Product Expert:  Understands all aspects of the customer’s product and transfers this understanding internally to all functional areas of the organization.
  • Supports Product Launch:  Supports and facilitates communication with the shop floor, the customer, quality, and engineering as needed or requested.  Understands role as face to the customer and actively engages all required parties to ensure effective product launches.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in constructing and delivering high quality presentations to large and small groups. Excellent verbal articulation.
  • Demonstrates critical focus on customer-facing issues – takes care of the customer first.
  • Compliance, Safety & Ethical Behavior:  Demonstrated high standard for excellence and core belief in safety, quality and compliance, accuracy in reporting and ethical behavior.
