Job Description: The Buyer will be responsible for machinery, equipment, tools, raw material (castings, tubing and machined parts), packaging materials, outside services, and all supplies necessary for operation of an organization. Researching for new supply partners as well as inventory tasks that include cycle counting, variance analysis, and data gathering/researching. Develop and maintain excellent supplier relationships in this environment of accountability and successful project execution.
 
Responsibilities/Duties:
  • Purchase all material for the operation of the organization to company and customer expectations.
  • Prepare and process quotes, requisitions, and purchase orders.
  • Continuously create and execute cost reduction projects to achieve financial plan commitments.
  • Reviews inventory inaccuracies and assist with the development and implementation of solutions.
  • Manages all system cycle counts and re-counts and conduct cycle count variance investigations when required in a given time period.
  • Issuing contract orders, negotiating purchasing agreements, executing cost reduction projects in cooperation with engineering and manufacturing.
  • Research alternative and/or new suppliers of materials and components.
  • Lead supplier dispute resolution for payables discrepancies, warranty claims, and late delivery charges in cooperation with Accounting.
  • Provide continuous, immediate, and effective production support in the event of supply disruption
  • Maintain the ERP/MRP system which affect purchased product, material and/or services.
 Experience/Education:
  • BA/BS degree w/ 1 - 3 years procurement experience 
  • 3 -5 years procurement/inventory experience’
  • Aerospace standards experience a plus
  • Must be familiar with computer programs, including Microsoft Excel and Outlook
  • Must be self-directed with strong project skills.
  • Highly energetic, success driven and contributes to building a positive team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills with the ability to be persuasive.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and superior follow-up
  • Demonstrates a strong customer focus along with a great work ethic
  • Experience with cost reduction within the manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of aerospace industry certifications/flow down requirements or ability to learn expeditiously.
  • Ability to persist and succeed with communication on technical and logistics issues.
  • Experience with commodity markets and commodity management.
  • Engineering or manufacturing background with strong technical and analytical aptitude.
  • Quantitative spreadsheet analysis of material cost and financial data
  • Comprehensive ability to understand the requirements of engineering drawings
