Our client (non-automotive) is profitable, and have recently moved into a new state of the art facility. They have a strong capital backing and therefore they have access to many resources. Due to growth, we are seeking an experienced Buyer who will independently purchase various commodities including electrical and electronic components, mechanical parts, fabricated assemblies and sub-assemblies, as well as maintenance, repair and operations (MRO), third-party services, packaging and plant support commodities.  This is an individual contributor role.  Occasional business travel maybe needed.

The Buyer will be working for a knowledgeable manager who grows and develops their team. This group is very supportive of helping their employees get their APICS certification.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Issue and maintain Purchase Orders;
  • Analyze and recommend appropriate levels of safety stock or Kanban levels to ensure on time delivery within stated lead time targets;
  • Regularly review Kanban levels to ensure material availability in support of customer delivery targets;
  • Maintain inventory goals and material requirements;
  • Work closely with manufacturing team to address and recover any supply chain issues;
  • Drive cost reduction initiatives and efforts through to implementation;
  • Support financial team including invoice support, resolution of inconsistencies or discrepancies identified as result of 3-way match (comparison of purchase order to receipt to invoice), and dispositions including resolution of materials, variances or issues;
  • Supplier performance tracking and communication;
  • Collaborate with suppliers to identify and eliminate the root causes of product non-conformances;
  • Master and execute Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) interface software;
  • Maintain assigned SKU’s within the ERP software to ensure availability of materials for customer orders
  • Support and foster an environment of continuous improvement related to cost, quality, delivery, and service;
Background Profile:
  • BS or BA degree desired in business or other closely related field
  • 3+ years’ experience in purchasing, commodities and industrial preferred
  • ERP and Microsoft Office Software experience
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
  • Technical familiarity with a range of materials and processes
