THE ROLE YOU WILL PLAY:
Responsible for the overall distribution center function for the North American Distribution Center, including raw materials receiving, storage, inventory control, and FG shipments (OEM, OES, Aftermarket, & Industrial Air Filtration).
Ensures the on-time delivery of customer orders and cost-effective use of personnel, equipment, inventories, and SAP
Ensures all necessary physical and electronic documentation is properly prepared and sent per customer expectations. This includes SAP deliveries, bills of lading, packing lists, export documents, and advanced shipping notices
Ensures just-in-time material delivery to and from company manufacturing plant on the same campus
Coordinates with same plant for production planning to ensure raw materials are received on-time and in sufficient quantity to meet production requirements / customer demand.
Drives continuous improvement via visual management techniques, new software implementations, and process flow optimization.
Responsible for departmental budgets.
Ensures customers’ needs are met and that the customer is kept informed both inside and outside of the company
Selects, motivates, trains, and develops competent departmental staff. Monitors staff and ensures they conform to company policies, procedures, and standards.
Responsible for inventory accuracy. Uses monitoring systems such as cycle counts to understand and correct root causes of variances.
Significant focus on inventory reduction to achieve and maintain world class inventory levels / turns.
Develops, plans, and formulates policies, objectives, and operation goals
Develops and maintains effective relationships with representatives of the material suppliers and with carriers.
Manages the most economical inbound and outbound transportation routes. Looks for opportunities to combine shipments, milk runs, etc.
Establishes optimum storage locations and handling methods
Utilizes lean concepts like Kanban cards, Pull Systems, FIFO throughout the warehouse / production interface as appropriate
Determines appropriate equipment and containers necessary to properly load, unload, move, and store materials
10+ years warehouse supervision and management
High School Diploma
Excellent math and computer skills
In depth understanding of MRP systems including SAP
Experience with forklifts, overhead cranes, stretch wrappers, computers, and customer specific software
Strong ability to coach associates at all levels of the organization
Proficient Excel and MS word
