Job Description: This is the primary leadership role for Materials Management and Production Control.  The incumbent will be accountable for the development and implementation of strategies as they relate to the supply side of SC as well as the production planning and material conversion initiatives on the production side.
Production Control - Responsibilities/Duties
  • Lead and guide efforts as it relates to Production Operations Planning.
  • Define, implement & continually refine an MPS (Master Production Scheduling) process.
  • Evaluate and implement a CRP (Capacity Requirements Planning) process that will be used to plan production schedules within the defined frozen planning period.
  • Monitor production capacities and inventory levels daily (to include Raw, Components, WIP, Finished Goods) and communicate throughout the organization as required to insure sufficient capacities and levels are available to manufacture scheduled product.
  • Responsible for proper set-up and utilization of existing ERP system as well as evaluation of future enhancements and potential new systems / programs.
  • Design and implement stocking and replenishment systems.
  • Establishes and monitors procedures to ensure that support for the MRP master schedule is provided from Engineering, Quality, Customer Service, Purchasing.
  • Manage and report the performance of the organization of materials in terms of operational objectives and goals of the company.
  • Establishes and monitors the operation of processes and procedures of the organization of materials.
Supply Chain - Responsibilities/Duties
  • Oversee the supervision of purchase orders for all raw materials, outside services, components, MRO and capital equipment.
  • Establish and implement purchasing strategies, policies, and procedures.
  • Develop a robust process to identify, evaluate and approve new suppliers.
  • Collaborate with peers to establish inventory safety stock levels, reorder amounts, and lead times for all raw materials and finished goods.
  • Utilize S&OP and MPS to understand and drive the MRP process.
  • Collaborate with Lab Management and Quality Departments to source new and alternative raw materials.
  • Establish, build, and maintain relationships with all key suppliers.
  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, and payment terms with suppliers.
  • Review and resolve any discrepancies with supplier invoices, grievances, claims, conflicts, product non-conformance or quality issues.
  • Prepare and maintain supplier evaluation forms and Supply Position Risk Assessments
  • Provide raw material and finished goods projections to key suppliers to ensure product availability on a timely basis.
  • Evaluate all purchase orders to ensure that order quantities are the most cost effective possible for material and freight costs.
  • Responsible for all inventory processes / practices such as cycle counting.
  • Provide Engineering with periodic raw material and finished goods material costs to assist in maintaining product costing, and projected raw material and finished goods costs for annual price meetings.
  • Arrange supplier meetings to review and resolve any problems or issues as needed.
  • Communicate all pertinent issues and concerns regarding suppliers, raw materials, and finished goods to management team.
  • Stays abreast of market conditions / trends related to relevant commodities and processes.
  • Bachelor’s degree required, MBA a plus
  • 5 - 10 years of experience in a Supply Chain / Production Control leadership role
  • Experience in manufacturing is required, Aerospace or Automotive a plus
  • Must be organized and detail oriented with the ability to multi-task.
  • Possess proven analytical/problem solving skills.
  • Computer proficiency in Windows and Microsoft applications and large ERP system
  • Must work efficiently and effectively, both independently and as a team.
  • Ability to identify issues, makes decisions, and resolves problems.
  • Must be able to react well under pressure and treat others with respect.
  • Ability to work occasional overtime and weekends.
