Our client, a multinational company that develops, manufactures and distributes products for commercial vehicles, has commissioned Sterling St. James, LLC to source, screen and qualify candidates for a Operations Supervisor / Manager position in their Kansas City Manufacturing location.
This is a fast paced position. You will be working in an environment that is in the early evolutionary cycle of driverless vehicles.  It doesn’t get any more exciting than this. Ground floor – leading edge!

POSITION OVERVIEW:
Operations Supervisor/ Manager is responsible for managing the primary business and being the technical resource for the production team in machining and assembly teams. This operations leader will assist teams in continuous improvement activities in quality safety and productivity while meeting corporate objectives.
Supports teams with tooling, fixture, machinery and process development, assists in training the team as well as preventive maintenance and in problems solving activities.  

As an active participant creating and maintaining a safe clean organized and efficient world class environment. 

The ideal candidate will have a passion for improvement and ability to inspire / influence teams.  He will have the various levels of decision making autonomy. 
He will have primary and secondary responsibility for several key performance measures.
He will receive input, coaching, and information to aid in setting priorities from Plant Manager or others who are appropriate.


POSITION OVERVIEW:
Operations Supervisor/ Manager and Leader at this firm you have the duty and responsibility for your own and your team’s actions, meeting deliverables and objectives. You are also responsible to develop and confirm your team member’s competence by re actively and proactively train and coach on how and why to work efficiently and effectively.
Actively manage and participate in the development of your team and cross-functional work, establishing organizational and process changes.

This position is not for the “faint of heart”. The client is looking for the person who is running towards the fire – not away from it. The person who not only wants to put it out but the person who wants to know how and why it started in the first place.
This person will be a catalyst for “company culture changes” in the teams.

Needed Experience / Skills:
            Not many bullet points here – just be able to perform:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Manufacturing
  • +3 years in an operations position with experience in managing people or leading a team.
  • Previous experience within the automotive business in a high volume, assembly environment.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt Certified a plus
  • Understanding of Lean manufacturing modules:
  • Lean Overview
  • Basic Problem Solving and Process Error Proofing
  • Root Cause Analysis
  • Advanced Problem Solving
 
  • Project coordination skills. Experience in capital justification
  • Strong Communication skills are essential
  • Demonstrated creative problem-solving skills 
  • Continuous learner
  • Proven leadership skills
  • Multi-tasking
  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) that enhance communication with people at any level in the organization.

  • Some travel, both national and international, is required.  Hours will vary.
