  • Utilize 3D CAD software and FEA simulations to generate innovative and competitive sealing solutions based on new and existing designs and technology, product history, materials, and manufacturing methods.
  • Translate user needs and other customer input into clear, concise engineered product designs and specifications.
  • Conduct design reviews/risk assessments with material, tooling, processing, and quality engineering teams along with production operations to ensure product designs are optimal for manufacturing. 
  • Manage own project activities and align with Marketing/Sales and directly with customers, including customer visits and presentations as necessary.
    Verify that designs meet functional requirements through FEA verification and product validation.
  • Analyze test data using statistical tools, perform in-depth interpretation of results, and generate detailed technical reports.
  • Develop and maintain complete technical detail throughout the product development lifecycle, including 2D/3D drawing/model, risk assessments, DFMEA, FEA, DVP&R, and technical reports.
  • Gain knowledge and stay abreast of latest product and materials technologies, and industry quality standards.
  • Support activities related to existing product design changes utilizing companies change management system.
  • Provide technical support in terms of customer and supplier technical presentations, and customer quality problem resolution.
  • Learn and apply Lean and Six Sigma tools and methodologies.
  • Learn and support the continued Product Development Process compliance of the IATF 16949 system.
  • Adhere to Company’s Guiding Principles and policies, safety/ergonomic standards.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline required-BSME desired.
  • 0-3 years product design experience. ( Intern or coop )
  • Ability to conceptualize mechanical components and component interactions.  Understanding of strength of materials, thermal effects on systems of components, and free body diagrams is required.
  • Basic understanding of Design for Manufacturing and Assembly, Value Analysis/Value Engineering, Design of Experiments, Design for Six Sigma, DFMEA, and DVP&R.
  • Ability to read, understand, and create engineering drawings including applied knowledge geometric tolerancing and dimensioning (GD&T) and tolerance stack-up analysis.
  • A working knowledge of CAD is required, including solid modeling, simulation techniques (Finite Element Analysis/FEA), computer-aided design and engineering (CAE).
  • Must be highly organized, disciplined, and flexible to handle multiple priorities.
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills to effectively work in a team environment.
  • Aggressive self-starter with strong attention to detail requiring minimal supervision.
  • High customer empathy and desire to enthusiastically serve.
  • Basic computer skills (Word, PowerPoint, Project, Excel, etc.) are required.
