This position develops, implements, and supports production processes related to the manufacturing of gears utilized in automotive transmissions. This position will focus on all aspects of gear manufacturing including hobbing, chamfering, gear grinding, as well as inline measurement. In this position you will work closely with all related departments to support the company’s objectives within a team based hands on environment.
Support, develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods.
Evaluate equipment & processes to eliminate failures and to increase productivity.
Design and analyze workflow, work force utilization, space requirements, and layout of equipment for maximum efficiency.
Develop and maintain NC cutting programs for various processing equipment.
Specifies, analyze, and source all cutting tools required for manufacturing.
Creates and maintains highly detailed manufacturing documentation.
Participate in cost reduction activities.
Work closely with members of Manufacturing and Quality to support company targets for COST, QUALITY, and DELIVERY.
Good Hands on engineering abilities.
Ability to program CNC equipment utilized in gear manufacturing
Good understanding of gear measuring methodology.
Proficient in the interpretation of component drawings and GD&T requirements.
Communication skills - both verbal and written.
Effective problem solving skills.
Good organizational skills.
Experience with CADD and 3D modeling is a plus.
General shop fabrication skills are a plus.
EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE
A Bachelor degree in an engineering field is required.
3-year minimum in a plant manufacturing environment – preferred.
