Currently looking for a
to lead all facets of a small manufacturing company's Quality department including quality systems, process monitoring and control, environmental systems and compliance, and customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in engineering, a minimum of 10 years of quality experience in a manufacturing environment, with TS 16949 experience preferred. This is a GREAT opportunity for a Quality Engineer who wants to take the next step in his/her career.
Responsibilities of the Quality Manager:
Serve on the executive team as the customer advocate for product quality and as the environmental advocate for the Company.
Manage the development and maintenance of quality management systems in accordance with TS 16949/IATF standards.
Maintain and further develop process control program using statistical techniques to drive continuous improvement in production areas.
Lead improvement projects by making use of improvement tools i.e. 5S, Kaizens, time studies, etc.
Develop specific automotive customer requirements, including PPAPs and FMEAs.
Manage analytical areas, especially the product chemical analysis laboratory (optical emission spectrometers), including maintenance, calibration and standardization, and training of manufacturing team members.
Serve as customer and supplier contact for new product inquiries, complaint resolution, and corrective action.
Facilitate the development and implementation of a process improvement and audit system that drives organization to maintain essential Metallurgical and Quality processes with a focus on consistency and improvement.
Analyze key metrics for trends and improvement opportunities.
Support the specification & qualification of new equipment.
Provide technical training to production and maintenance to facilitate a sharing of knowledge across plant operations.
Requirements for the Quality Manager position:
Bachelor's degree in an engineering or science discipline a MUST!
10-15 years of quality experience in a manufacturing environment
Six Sigma Black Belt required
Industrial engineering experience
Expert knowledge of statistical process control techniques and a proven track record of driving improvements
Experience with PPAPs and FMEAs
Metals experience a plus
Strong analytical skills
Good communication and coaching skills. Proven ability to influence quality behavior
Experienced MS Office user and able to use available tools to develop the QMS system. High level Microsoft Excel skills
Client will provide relocation. Preference for a candidate currently residing in IN, MI, or OH or with ties to the area.
