A client of ours in Michigan is a market leader in developing next generation vehicle technologies for powertrain, hybrid, stability controls, and other related systems. They’re currently looking for a Senior Software Engineer (Control Module FAE) for support them in software integration and troubleshooting activities in the field for powertrain control modules such as transmission, engine, and hybrid ECUs with  32 bit single and multi-core microcontrollers. In this role you will be responsible for designing embedded software and support the design team in test software,  embedded programming kernels and instrumentation measurement or calibration device drivers, etc.

Responsibilities of the Senior Embedded Applications Engineer
  • Support software design teams at various locations for software development life cycle which includes requirements, design, coding, verification, and validation.
  • Work with customers for communicating with software design team, releasing software and troubleshooting software issues on-site.
  • Provide onsite support to the customer including software integration, troubleshooting, software bench and development vehicle level testing.
  • Perform root cause analysis activities, record them and track their progress for successful conclusion.
  • Design embedded software along with typical deliverables such as test software, embedded programming kernels and  instrumentation measurement or calibration device drivers, etc.
  • Use of software build tool chain components such as ANSI-C compiler, assembler, linker, makefiles etc.
  • Debug software with techniques such as breakpoints, watch windows, and program trace.
  • Reprogram flash memory with debug interfaces such as Aurora, Nexus, JTAG, DAP etc.
  • Work on measurement & test equipment such as oscilloscopes, digital multi-meters, current probes, function generators.
  • Work with serial communication tools such as CANalyzer or VehicleSpy.
 
Qualifications of the Senior Embedded Applications Engineer
  • BS in EE/CE related field.
  • 3+ years of experience working with programming languages such as assembly, C or other high level languages in automotive environment.
  • Experience with electronic control systems
  • Knowledge of version control tools (PVCS, CVS, etc.), measurement/calibration tools (ETAS INCA or ATI Vision), debuggers, emulation tools, CAN interface tools, emulation calibration data memory, and ASAP display table measurements.
  • Knowledge of low level drivers, external bus interfaces, memory management units, ECC, flash memory, etc.
  • Knowledge  of working with  real-time operating systems (RTOS), interrupt service routines, exception handlers, task scheduling, and multi-core CPU operation.
  • Knowledge of automotive component and vehicle test procedures, including EMI/EMC testing and automotive development process.
  • Experience with software validation test procedures, design specifications and detailed software documentation.
  • Practical knowledge of debuggers and emulation tools, CAN interface tools and other serial communication interfaces.
  • Experience in coordinating and facilitating several projects along with tracking and reporting design changes.
  • Solid communication skills.

Compensation of the Senior Embedded Applications Engineer
Salary Range: $90,000-110,000/year

Location:  Detroit Area
Type:  Direct Hire
Travel: Around 10%, with some global
Relocation Assistance:  Subject to review
