Director Health, Safety and Environmental

This successful non-automotive manufacturer is looking for a Director of Health, Safety and Environmental. The company has experienced substantial growth the last year. As the Director of HS&E you will report to the President, located off site, and will have three indirect reports. This position will have multi-site responsibilities and require up to 70% travel. Daily you will be focused on providing technical health, safety and environmental support; prepare written safety and health programs; identify and implement safety training needs; be aware of all regulatory changes, auditing and compliance documentation; workers compensation and lost-time injuries. Candidates should be able to coordinate all of their own administrative tasks, enjoy floor presence and communicate well at all levels of the organization. This is a hands-on position that requires the incumbent to be on the floor up to 40% of their day. Strategic planning will be an active part of this role.
Candidates should enjoy working in a team environment, communication with hourly staff to enhance safety goals, working independently, project management and being focused on multiple projects. REQUIREMENTS for the Director of Health, Safety and Environmental:
1. A 2-year degree in a related field with 10 years of progressive relevant experience or a 4-year degree in a related field with 5 years of progressive relevant experience
2. Candidates are required to have previous management experience overseeing HS&E in manufacturing environments
3. A strong background in safety initiatives
4. Workers compensation and lost-time prevention
5. The ability to complete administrative tasks on a daily basis
6. Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)

Skills preferred but NOT required:
1. Masters degree
2. Automotive environments
3. Experience overseeing multiple sites
